Soccer

Ladies
The Team compete in the Leinster Colleges League and 5 aside, Indoor and Outdoor Championship Tournaments. The team offers people a chance to meet others, socialise and get fit… keep an eye on the Soccer Club notice board for regular updates on training and fixtures/results. There are also opportunities to play for the Leinster and Irish Student Team. The Club needs new people to help out this year so contact the Sports and Recreation Officer if you’re interested.

Mens
The IT Tallaght Soccer Club provides students with the opportunity to participate in a competitive soccer environment through the Club’s Senior and Fresher Teams. The club provides professional coaching and organisation so that students can represent the college at a high level. It is also hoped that a third team, depending on numbers, will be made available this year to those who just fancy a game. The senior team was unbeaten in the league series narrowly losing on goal difference and suffering heartbreak in the cup after an extra-time defeat to the same opponents.

The Fresher Team provided constant entertainment scoring plenty of goals and reached the Final of the B League. Manager Damien Richardson (ex Irish International) coaches both the senior team and the fresher team. Last year 2 players made it onto the Irish Colleges’ International team (Alan Mulcahy and Matt Roche) and enjoyed a trip to Cyprus in January, where they played 3 competitive games (including a good win over a professional Cypriot side).

Both Alan and Matt were joined by 3 other IT Tallaght players (including goal scorer Andy Durkin) as the colleges triumphed for the 5^th consecutive year against the universities in the annual challenge. Participation both on and off the field is an integral part to the continuing success of the club – SO GET INVOLVED!! It is also a great way to meet some great people. Fresher trials take place Tuesday 21^st September followed by a domestic Fresher challenge match on Thursday 23^rd.
