Debating Society
The Political & Humanities Debating Society was re-established in 2001. The Society fields teams for the Irish Times and Irish Mace competitions and we want to get an IT Tallaght team into the 3rd round of the competitions, perhaps your talents will make it happen. We also hosted communications seminars. The Society will hold elections for all committee positions in early October, so get involved soon.
The Society always needs new members to either; speak research topics, organize debates, and fundraise or just to have a good time. It is a great opportunity to meet a diverse range of students, improve your self confidence in a not so serious environment and also a chance to travel to other 3rd level institutions to speak or mingle. There will be training sessions organized for October to assist members deal with the debating competition formats. These are always great events with most of the talking done afterwards over a bottle of sparkling water; just remember to keep that fact quiet.
