Bioprocess Technology Centre
The Bioprocess Technology centre has been designed with a strong emphasis on the support of teaching, training, and R&D.
The resources available include
- Fermenters (2 to 100 litre) with media preparation and harvest tanks and with full PLC control and with CIP (cleaning-in-place) and SIP (steam-in-place) capability;
- Ultra and micro cross-flow filtration capability;
- Downstream processing unit for large-scale protein/metabolite purification and analysis; lyophillization unit;
- Product formulation technology (creams / liquids / tablets / powders); centrifuge;
This unit is supported by a range of biological laboratories including tissue culture and molecular biology facilities.
