Conducting Polymers
This work is comprised of two streams of research activity, as detailed below;
- Design, synthesis and characterisation of metal functionalised conducting polymers. This involves the attachment of metallic centres throiugh covalent linkers onto a typical monomer (i.e.: pyrrole) either in the in-chain or out-of-chain mode. The monomer is then electropolymersied to form conducting polymer films which contain the electrochemical properties of both the polymer backbone and the metal centre.
- Typical conducting polymer systems such as polythiophene, polypyrrole are utlised as immobilistaion matrices for polyoxotungsates.
